The Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3261, Full-time – Part-time (CUPE, Local 3261 F/T and P/T) represents full-time and regular part-time workers, including janitors, garden staff, drivers, laboratory technicians and sports coaches.

The new collective agreement, which will apply retroactively to January 1, 2020 and will continue until March 31, 2023, contains comparable wage comparisons and classifications in the Provincial Community Treaty, which applies to all three stages of each classification. It also implies an overall wage increase of 3% in the last year of the agreement. The United Steelworkers, Staff Appointed Unit, Local 1998 (ETC 1998 Staff-Appointed) represents administrative and technical officers appointed full-time and part-time by staff. The Teachers` Support Union (TSSU) represents about 1,000 non-university teachers who are assistants, tutors and meeting teachers. The Poly Party is made up of eight unions representing the university`s maintenance and crafts staff. They are the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 1995, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 213, the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 882, the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades, Local 138, the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada, Local 170, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Lodge 692, the Teamsters, 213, and the Construction and Specialized Workers` Union, Local 1611. The polyparty represents about 85 employees and 10 employees. The Administrative and Professional Personnel Association (APSA) represents approximately 821 permanent and temporary administrators and professionals.

Currently, 46 administrative and professional positions are excluded from the association. The contract provides for an improvement in bereavement and compassionate leave benefits, increases in parental leave and an agreement on the establishment of a joint review procedure for the implementation of an affordable pension plan by June 30, 2021.
